This paper focus on the study of the literary reception and cultural filtering in Lao She’literature creation. Lao She is known as “the Dickens of China”. The British writer Charles Dickens’literature has stimulated greatly the creation desire of Lao She. He drew on the theme selection, characteristics and artistic style of Dickens’creation. This reflects the result of the literary reception. But his works still reflected the ethnic characteristics. This is the result of cultural filtering. Lao She’s creation absorbed the essence of Dickens’works without losing the features of the Chinese nation.
