Automated essay scoring becomes a useful yet common tool in the English writing evaluation for university students, which is typified by Juku, Iwrite and so on. The effect of it, however, remains unclear, especially when it is compared with teacher scoring. Via analyzing forty English articles written by university students in Iwrite platform, the thesis aims to make a comparison between the automated essay scoring and teacher scoring in English writing in regard to syntax, morphology, allocation and spelling, and make improvement to the online automated essay scoring system.
