In this novel, almost all major characters are victims of trauma, whose memory of trauma has become a part of their lives.Racial prejudice, identity crisis and cultural collision constitute the major sources of the physical trauma and tragedy of this family.Based on trauma theory and Asian-American literature, this paper aims at exploring the deep reasons behind the tragedy of this family and respectivelysummarizing these reasons into the social, family and personal aspects.
