This paper aims to study the translation strategies of Hanshan poems from the perspective of communication studies. Different from the previous research which lays the emphasis on the translation equivalence on linguistic level, the author intends to discuss the strategies of translating Hanshan poems in terms of communicative function. Hanshan poems, influenced by China Zen culture, made a huge impact on the Beat Generation of America in 1950. The author firmly believes it is worthwhile to study the translation strategies of Hanshan poems in the dimension of cultural communication.
