The Road from Colonus is a short story written by E.M.Foster. It mainly tells an old man Mr. Lucas went to his dreamed place——Greek, where he found new meanings of his life. He wanted to stay there but forced to leave by his daughter Ethel, finally becoming an complaining man. The paper tries to interpret the abnormal father-daughter relationship between Mr. Lucas and Ethel from the perspective of family ethics. It is divided into five parts: part 1: Brief introduction about E.M.Foster, the novel and Family Ethics; part 2: Psychological analysis of Mr. Lucas and Ethel; part 3: Cultural analysis of Mr. Lucas and Ethel; Part 4: Economic analysis of Mr. Lucas and Ethel; Part 5: conclusion.
