In western movies and literary works that emphasize the conflict and gaps between children and parents during adolescence and menopause, Canadian actor and filmmaker Xavier Dolan artfully depicted children’s hatred toward parents in adolescence, even the imagination of the boy of his mother lying in the coffin in his first feature film I Killed My Mother which won three awards at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival. The thesis illustrates the typical family conflict between adolescence and menopause through filmology, psychology and personal experience to enlighten a better understanding of human nature.
