TheWorld War II has made terrifying influence on the entire ecosystem, whichcontributed to one of the motivations for William Golding to write Lord ofthe Flies. This novel contains Golding’s ecological thoughts by telling afictitious story about a group of boys trapped on an isolated island in thecontext of war. The damage of natural ecology was bound to strike socialecology and cause the crisis of spiritual ecology. Meanwhile, these threefactors interacted with each other, forming a vicious circle. The currentglobal situation and some domestic phenomena have made it necessary tounderstand the enlightenment in Lord of the Flies lest the tragedy cametrue.

Analyzing Lord of the Flies from the perspective of natural, social and spiritualecology, this paper reinterprets William Golding’s eco-criticism thought conveyedsubtly by the historical epitome of human and nature.
